Robert E. "Bob" Smith

A standout athlete at Walkersville High School, playing soccer, basketball, and baseball, Bob Smith went on to become a talented varsity soccer player at Morgan State University, after which he began his coaching career at Thomas Johnson High School, working seven years with the freshman teams. Selected head coach of Walkersville High School’s first football team, he found time to play with the Frederick Falcons, leading the team in rushing, pass receptions, total yards, and points scored. Equally as important, he developed numerous youth programs for boys and girls during his 30 years as a physical education teacher at North Frederick Elementary School. Bob Smith was a multi-talented athlete, coach, and teacher who touched the lives of thousands of young people.
